Swami Vivekananda was born on 12 January 1863 in Calcutta. Since childhood, he was a thinker, very generous, sympathetic to the poor, practical and creative approach in religious and social matters. His guru’s name was Ramakrishna Paramhansa, he was one of the main disciples of his guru. Calling himself a servant of the poor, Vivekananda is known as a patriotic saint in India.
